Kevin Bailey

Dr. Kevin Bailey is the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at UNC Charlotte and a member of the graduate faculty in the College of Education.  Before moving to UNC Charlotte in 2017, he served as Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of West Florida and held leadership roles in universities in Ohio, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania.

“Bailey,” as he prefers to be called, has been a leader through several campus crises including COVID-19, a campus shooting that led to 2 fatalities and 4 wounded, nooses on campus, and Hurricane Katrina. He co-authored a chapter in Campus crisis management: A comprehensive guide to planning, prevention, response, and recovery. He was the subject of a two-part video series produced by IUP-TV, entitled, “The Tulane University experience with Katrina: Crisis management and leadership.” An article in Student Affairs Today featured lessons learned by Bailey from leading during difficult times.

Bailey is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., serves on the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) Board of Directors and was featured in the publication, Who’s Who in Black Charlotte in 2023. He was named a NASPA Pillar of the Profession for sustained professional distinction in higher education.
